Laddering and mind mapping are often used to help connect the rational, functional and emotional components of a consumer’s decision-making process. By placing a concerted focus on understanding the mindset of the consumer we are able to develop an understanding of what occurs and why it is happening. Using associative exercises we de-emphasize the rational and functional and increase the importance on the emotions. These exercises are particularly beneficial in the creative and insight development process.
