The Opportunity

Compliance is a major challenge with medical treatment particularly with procedures as serious as organ transplants. To address these challenges Novartis had developed several new technologies designed to help manage and increase immunosuppressant compliance among transplant patients.

Our Approach

To gather feedback on the strengths, weaknesses and appeal of these technologies one-on-one interviews were conducted with physicians, nurses, pharmacists and transplant patients. Interviews with healthcare professionals focused on how the technologies could address functional challenges. Patient interviews used storytelling techniques (e.g., collages) to better understand how the each technology could help with the emotional component.

The Results

Through the research the client was able to clearly understand the functional benefits and emotional benefits of the technologies and develop a clear communication strategy for the launch.
